At Cronulla High School, we offer a range of Dance ensembles to cater for varying age, style and ability. All ensembles are provided with performance opportunities throughout the year, such as Arts in the Dark, the biennial musical, local and regional festivals, Schools Spectacular, and interstate and overseas tours.
These groups involve a small group of selected students with a talent and interest in Dance. These classes focus on modern dance technique and aim to improve skills as well as working towards performance pieces for various events throughout the year. These include dance festivals, Schools Spectacular, overseas Performing Arts Tours, Arts in the Dark, and the biennial musical. These students are encouraged to improve skills in a challenging, supportive and fun environment.
The Elite Dance Company and Training Dance Company rehearse before school on a weekly basis. The Elite Dance Company is directed by Mrs Kirstyn Pilkington and the Training Dance Company is directed by Miss Sam Patrikiou-Smith.
This group is a small group of selected Year 7 and Year 8 students with a talent and interest in dance. (This group is a feeder group for the elite ensembles above.) This class will focus on modern dance technique and aim to improve skills as well as work towards a variety of events such as local and regional dance festivals and Arts in the Dark.
The Junior Selective Dance Ensemble rehearses before school on a weekly basis. The Junior Selective Ensemble is directed by Miss Sam Patrikiou-Smith.
All students are welcome to attend this dance class with a focus on improving skills across a range of styles. This class is open to students from Year 7 to Year 12 and includes strength and flexibility training, technical exercises, and performance pieces.
The Dance Conditioning Ensemble rehearses during Lunch on a weekly basis. The Dance Conditioning Ensemble is student-directed by Elise Atfield (Year 11) and Billie Powell (Year 11).
