Transitioning to Cronulla High School in 2027

Interviews for non-local and non-government Year 6 applicants will be available during Term 1, 2026. Please note that waiting lists apply.

For Out of Area applicants, all applications will be reviewed by the Enrolment Panel in early Term 2. Recommendations will then be submitted to the Director of Educational Leadership for final approval.

Enrolment offers for Out of Area students are expected to be issued in June 2026, following the Director’s decision.


Placement offers for the Extension Class will also be made at this time.

How to Enrol – Year 6 into Year 7

In NSW government schools, applying to move from primary school to high school is a two-step process that starts with an Expression of Interest. Visit the moving to high school page to learn more about the process.

Step 1

For Students Attending a NSW Government Primary School

If your child currently attends a NSW government primary school:

  1. Complete the Online Expression of Interest (EOI)
    – This will be provided by your primary school (Date TBC)
  2. The deadline for completing the online EOI form is  (Date TBC)

Important for Out-of-Area Applicants:
If you live outside the Cronulla High School catchment, you must also:

  • Complete the CHS application form (link will be published Term 4 2025)
  • Attend an interview with the Principal (we will contact you once your application is received to schedule this)

Step 2

If you have received an offer from our school for placement into Year 7 next year, the next step is to visit apply online to proceed with the offer and complete the enrolment application. If you did not submit an expression of interest, visit apply online to start a new application to our school.

 

For Students Attending a Non-Government Primary School  (Both in-area and out-of-area applicants)

Please complete all three steps below:

  1. Complete the CHS Application Form:  (link will be published Term 4 2025)
  2. Complete the DoE online enrolment application via this link.
  3. Attend an interview with the Principal (we will contact you once your CHS application is received to schedule this)

 

Extension Class Information

The Extension Class application package will be available in Term 1, 2026.

Placement offers for the Extension Class will be made in June, following approval of Out of Area applications.

The Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) provides and marks our extension class test. We supervise the students who sit the test.

The test aims to:

  • Provide an independent and objective measure of student performance and
  • Identify a student’s relative strengths and weaknesses.

The test comprises the following sections:

Reading Comprehension                 -           45 minutes     

Written Expression                           -           25 minutes     

Mathematical Reasoning                 -           40 minutes     

A short break will be given between tests 2 and 3.

Year 7 2027 Liaison days

Liaison Days – 23, 24 & 25 February 2026
An excursion to Cronulla High School for Year 6 students.

If your child attends a Cronulla High School feeder primary school, they will attend with their primary school.
If your child does not attend a feeder school, please contact us to arrange their attendance.

Open Night

Tuesday, 10 March, 2026 – 6.30pm to 8.30pm, for all students and parents. P & C sausage sizzle and drinks from 6.00pm.
