Dance Ensembles
At Cronulla High School, we offer a range of Dance ensembles to cater for varying age, style and ability. All ensembles are provided with performance opportunities throughout the year, such as Arts in the Dark, the biennual musical, local and regional festivals, Schools Spectacular, and interstate and overseas tours.
Senior and Junior Dance Companies
These groups involve a small group of selected students with a talent and interest in Dance. These classes focus on modern dance technique and aim to improve skills as well as working towards performance pieces for various events throughout the year. These include dance festivals, Schools Spectacular, overseas Performing Arts Tours, Arts in the Dark, and the biennial musical. These students are encouraged to improve skills in a challenging, supportive and fun environment.
The Senior and Junior Dance Companies rehearse before school on a weekly basis. The students in these companies have been selected during an audition process and have demonstrated a high level of skill and technique required for these groups. Dance Senior Company comprises Year 9-12 students, and Dance Junior Company comprises our talented Year 7-8 students.

Drama Ensemble
The Drama ensembles provide an opportunity for students to develop performance skills (at varying levels) in acting, improvisation, and collaborative group work. An atmosphere is created whereby students are encouraged to develop self-confidence and other social skills through experimenting creatively in a safe and nurturing environment.
Students are given the opportunity to perform at various events at the school together with performance opportunities in the wider community.
Music Programs
Concert Band & Stage Band Program
Cronulla High School offers a Concert Band for all students from Year 7 to Year 12 who wish to continue learning and performing on their major instrument, and who have at least 12 months’ experience.
The Concert Band rehearses on a weekly basis and performs music at an appropriate skill level – one that is both challenging and achievable. Students in the Concert Band are also provided with sectional tutorials with qualified tutors. The Concert Band performs at various school functions and participate in a range of instrumental festivals and concerts in the wider community.
A Stage Band has been established for saxophone, trumpet, trombone and rhythm section students from Year 8 to Year 12 who wish to develop their ensemble playing, improvisation skills, and rudiments associated with Jazz standards.

School Musical Program
The Cronulla High School musical program commenced in 2009. The program originated to provide students with the opportunity to participate in a musical show that is supported by the school community. The program aims to promote self-confidence, self-esteem, commitment, teamwork, creativity and fun in a safe and nurturing environment. Students learn experientially about the conventions of musical theatre and the process of running a large-scale production.

Vocal Ensemble
The Cronulla High School Vocal Ensemble is available to all students from Year 7 to Year 12. The Vocal Ensemble performs at various school events throughout the year, and at events in the wider community. Our students regularly audition successfully to perform in the Schools Spectacular Core Choir, and have also represented Cronulla High School in State Choir, Sing NSW, Sydney City Eisteddfod, State Senior Music Camp, Youth Rock, OzTunes, and school and community performing arts exposés. The Vocal Ensemble has participated in the Expanding Horizons concert at the Sydney Opera House, and also performed for the Cronulla RSL as the featured choir at the ANZAC Day Dawn Service at Monro Park. Selected members of the Vocal Ensemble are given the opportunity to participate in our overseas Performing Arts Tours. In 2018, our Vocal Ensemble joined the tour to New York, where a highlight was singing to a large audience in the One World Observatory Tower.
Creative Enrichment Courses (2025)
Filmaking Fundamentals: Monday afternoons, Term 1 & 2
Are you Director, Designer, Cinematographer, Actor, Editor or Writer? This is an exciting film-team based 16-week course we are offering, culminating from Sarah Doyle's 15 years experience in screenwriting and film directing internationally, and five years of running filmmaking bootcamps and workshops nationally.
Filmmaking Fundamentals is open to all years. It comprises of writing and filming exercises, class collaboration in shooting scenes, and self-propelled experimentation with phone cameras to practice dynamic cinematography. By keeping the tools modern and simple, participants will learn about the different phases of creating a film, empowering film teams to see their vision to a finished project. Course covers story and theme selection, script writing and editing, casting, story-boarding, shot-listing, cinematography, production design, directing actors and simple lighting, sound & editing techniques. Street Art is a powerful 8-week course instructed by professional artist Emma Hill. The course will unlock participants' unique signature to their graffiti art style with a very cool art kit and a huge panel to produce a major work for display. Course will cover lettering, abstract art as graffiti, colour theory, making unique stencils & theme expression. It is very hands-on and participants will work at their own pace with their own ideas to build the skills needed to create unforgettable street art. Panels will exhibit at the school before returning home for your own proud display. The art kits include poscas and stencilling gear, and the class will share the use of professional-grade spray paints! Heaps of fun. Make your mark!

Onscreen Acting: Monday afternoons, Term 4
A comprehensive acting course designed for drama students who love acting and want to expand their craft and technique into acting for the screen.
We’ll dive into the skills that film and TV actors use every day:
- How to build a real emotional connection to the other actor and to the material.
- How to adjust your performance so it works on screen — where less is often more.
- How to analyse a scene and prepare for a shoot
- and how to create professional self-tapes, which is how most actors land auditions today.
